A gifted singer, Sudipta Sekhar Mishra, is one of those few gems that this hilly state is having in her womb, Mishra 46, has an unmatched status in the arena of Najrulgeeti and Modern Bengali Song. Nature has adorned him with a alluring voice that makes us wander in the realm of fancy. This multitalented artist was born on 4th November, 1964 in Deoghar District of Jharkhand state. He lost his father Shubhrangsu Sekhar Mishra, A Prati Ritwik of Satsang, in his childhood. But it was his mother, Ashalata Devi, who became a role model of courage and inspiration for him to persue his academic career and musical journey.
A Hons. Graduate in Education from Calcutta University, Mishra, has also done Sangeet Visharad from V.S. Vidyapith, Lucknow and Sangeet Probar (M.Mus) from B.S.Parishad, West Bengal. This artist had an easy and spontaneous access to Harmonium and Tabla right from his childhood.
Mishra is a B High Grade Artist of Bengali Modern Song and Najrulgeeti of All India Radio and Doordarshan Kendra, Agartala. He has also earned recognition from AIR and DDK, Agt. as a Grade-II Music composer. Though he is a specialist on Rabindra Sangeet, Bengali light Classical Music, Najrulgeeti and devotional Songs, Classical is his preferred field of Music.
Mishra has composed more than 250 songs to his credit and has been writing columns on music regularly for some leading newspapers since 1981. There were some special moments to relish in Mishra’s life when he was honoured by “VORER KAGOJ”- The largest selling daily of Bangladesh, Manasa Audio, Trilok Maya Sangeet Vidyapith, Gouri Siksha Niketan, Bangladesh Visa Office, Shri Shri Anandamayee Sangha. His album “Tomay Sonabo” was aired from German Radio Colon. Many Famous singers of West Bengal, like Smt. Shreeradha Banerjee, Partha Pratim Nandi and Tripura have given their voice in songs composed and directed by him.
This artist had the privilege to learn Music from some of eminent Sangeet Gurus namely Amalendu Bikash Kar Chowdhury, Nabadwip Chandra Debnath, Ratan Sengupta, Pandit Rabi Nag, Braja Gopal Singha , Ramendranath Dey.
To spread his achieved knowledge, Mishra started “Dhritishree” , his own Musical Institute in 1984. This Institute has in its credit students like Smita Nandy, Debarati Bhattacharjee, Dipanal debnath etc who have acclaimed special identity in Nation-wide musical programme. This year “Dhritishree” is celebrating its Silver Jubilee year and to memorise this event Sudipta Sekhar Mishra has released an Audio CD, Nabin Megher Sur (Rabindra Sangeet) and Shrinkhal Bhanga Sur Baje Paye (Sukanta Giti) inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on 19th June, 2010 and 5th April 2011 respectively at Press Club, Agartala.
Sudipta Sekhar Mishra has also released another audio cd 'Milan Sarga' -Rabindra patriotic song inaugurated by Dr.Prafullajeet Sinha, Chairperson of Agartala Municipal Council on 11th Aug 2011at Sukanta Academy , Agartala.
